I got this after seeing the movie The Conspirator. Much of what was in this book was in the movie and I found the book to give additional insights into the actual trial, the hangings and the wheeling and dealing that took place due to the political atmosphere and the desire to exact revenge on anyone that had a part in the Lincoln assassination.The only real problem I had was technical in that I purchased the "Illstrated" version for my Kindle but there were no illustrations, every word with "ll", as in "call" always dropped on of the "L's", etc. It was only .50 more but frustrating nevertheless.
Otherwise while it was not a "tome" I found the book to be well done and captivating.
